These baloon people would drive my brother nuts. They would land in his pasture, cut the fence to bring in the vehicle to haul the baloon out, and didn't bother repairing the fence. Then in the middle of the night he would get a call from the police saying cows wondering around in the neighborhood. Stan

They took my name and said i would get a thank you card.I guess money is tight everywhere.

Had same thing happen on the edge of my soybean field behind my barn about 20 years ago. Have a framed thank you I believe still hanging in the parlor at the farmhouse.

Had one of those landings, in the cow pasture, back in the 80's, balloon touched down, I told the pilot that he better not land there again, or he wouldn't get his balloon back! One thing did make up for the incident, when the 250++ lb woman who was the passenger, decided to lift up the lectric fence wire, to squeeze under, to exit the pasture. Jiggle, jiggle, scream! Wait for it, here comes another pulse of the weed chopper, jiggle, jiggle, scream!ROTFLMAO!

The Red,

We had one almost touch down in our field probably 9-10 years ago. They managed to correct the problem and took off again.

Myself, I'd have been bailing out of that basket when it was close to the ground... and just let the crazy people continue the ballon trip without me.

You"re missing a lovely ride! Better half and I went on one for our 25th anniversary. MN/WI border, along the St. Croix river and the Mississippi. River, marina, WI farmland...1 1/2 hr evening flight...getting dark, had to land, ended up tipping out of the basket on a brush pile in a development.....pilot shared 2 bottles of wine with the seven of us! As an ex-paratrooper with 21 1/2 uneventful jumps, it was nice being up again. Both enjoyed the views, went up and down multiple times on one flight. Skimming over crops and river, then fire the burner to get to about 1500 feet. No sensation of altitude change.

i would joke with them and say thanks for delivering my balloon,,,since no one/property damage done,,,ask for a free ride..lol

We leave within a mile of a small airstrip. They fly out about every afternoon. They land around the house everyonce in awhile. The only problem is the noise scares the cows. They here it but don"t look up. the local dairy has had there cows get out and hurt themselves.

Hey Ray! Did you get your note and "present"? I hope to see you at the cavern soon! I was surprised when a friend found this on here. I really got a kick out of it!

To get this thread back on topic...I also collect old tractors. I currently have a LI, MT, 60LP, 60Gas, 630LP, 730LP, and a 4020. All JD of course. Have you still got your 720 that I saw as I landed? Pretty nice looking tractor.

As for, the others who commented on this thread...If you have trouble with any balloonists in your area, let me know. We are a small group, and I can put the pressure on them to be a good citizen. If it were not for friendly landowners, we would not be able to fly!

Thank you.
