Massey 135 Rear Seal Leaking

We put a new rope seal in our Massey 135 diesel and ran it about 3 hrs. The rope seal still leaks. We have no blow by, good oil pressure when warm, and very good compression. We think the main bearings are worn causing play. With the rope seal being new and installed correct, what's the chance of the rope seal stop leaking if main bearings are replaced. Any suggestions to help avoiding breaking the tractor in half again. I hope someone has had this problem before.

Drop sump [oil pan] the leak is most likley due the arch joint cork gaskets shrinkage over time. I do the sump gaskets at the same time as the crank seals

I don't think it will. if the bearing is in fact that loose, rope seal will be beat out--also, good oil pressure doesn't sound like any main probs. check alum. seal retainer for cracks, also cam plug, plate? good luck--

All items mentioned were in good shape. I agree with you on main bearings and oil pressure. We put a rear seal in it 12 months earlier, leaked but not as bad. The oil is new, a thought was maybe it was helping to keep oil pressure up. I am not new to this type of repair but this one has has me puzzled. The leak is not pouring but a drip about every 15 seconds at idle. It's coming our of the hole at bottom of bell housing, it's engine oil. I am thinking if the main's had wear, not major but just enough to cause movement, this could cause the leak. We are lost at this point.
