Ell I'd take the dang thing back!! but you wood have to find all the parts. Shafts, wheels, chains, belts, mice, broken glass, snakes. lol.

Just talked to JD, the price for the parts are gonna be 1800 bucks. Too rich for my cheap blood. Still checkin into some jobber suppliers?????

Can you replace it with a combine motor take-out from a JD 4400, 6600 or similar combine?

Lyle, pull the oil pan and pressurize the top end to see which cylinder is leaking from the bottom. They're wet sleeves, so they're not hard to replace.

Stuck this in another post somewhere- call Hi Tech at 800-453-8250. They have an in frame and complete overhaul kit for that engine. They'll need the wrist pin size- some were 1 3-16" and some were 1 3/8" to match the kit. They're in Salt Lake City.

I have the four cyl. version of that engine I bought used. I put new sleeves in it when I got it. Then I religiously tested the coolant and added the treatment from JD. Then maybe 3000 hours later I put new sleeves in it again!!!!!!!!!!
So now I've ignored the coolant. One JD mechanic said that engine was particularly hard on sleeves.
