Drove by a Ford dually with a for sale sign.
1999 7.3 diesel with a Banks, 6 speed, 123,000 miles.
It has a 50 gal aux fuel tank below the tool box. Sounds good. He wants 12,000 for it. He was kind of vague on mileage, but said he figures it averages about 15 MPG. However, it's a lot more truck than I was looking for.
Sure would like some input from y'all. Thanks,
Chuck

If it don't "click", skip it.... You'll always be looking for the right one... May as well wait and get what you want the first time....

If that's for an XLT with 4X4 that's not out of line. Ask him why it has a Banks turbo instead of the factory turbo. The factory units on the 7.3 PS were pretty good.

Call me a pansy, but I'm very leery of any vehicle with any performance upgrades. Aside from maybe an aftermarket exhaust, I walk away.

The banks could be a tuner, exhaust, intake or replacement turbo. It is not necessarily a replacement tuner. I swear by the banks intakes and exhaust kits.

Solid truck have same truck but single wheel, 186000 still going strong, would love some banks stuff especially a brake. atleast 40.000 towing 24 ft stock trailer. 12mpg loaded in mountians and 16 empty open road.

I won't call you a pansy in-too-deep. I instantly turn my head when I see ANYTHING to do with upgrades on a pickup truck. Especially when I see a diesel with a mention of a chip or aftermarket intake in the ad. Even aftermarket rims will make the value go down in my mind.

I would rather spend a lot more for a retired fleet truck. Last winter I bought a 2000 F-250 (gas) for $5000. It only had 60K miles and was from a local contractor company who was the first owner. If you look past rust and dents, you can get a good deal if you're willing to look long enough.

I still get a kick out of how the fleet mechanic wrote milage down on the inside of the door with a sharpie marker for every oil change. I've been keeping up with his tradition. It reminds me of on old grain drill I had where the farmer had written a log down of bushels/acres planted on the inside of the hopper cover with a penciel every year since the 1940-something.

For a Ford, I don't think you can beat a 7.3 Powerstoke..especially with a 6-speed. 123k miles is nothing.

I like my 7.3 6-speed F250.
