Couple of great buys

A machinist in my area had past away a few weeks ago, God rest his soul. His estate auction was today and from what I saw on the ad I thought I would attend. Turned out to be a great day. After paying some one else to make pistons and deck plates for the past 12 years, I finally have my own mill. I also bought a heavy duty insulated cabinet full of welding rods, gloves and a brand new welding helmet for 15$. When I was digging through the cabinet when I got it home I found a 1 inch Jacobs chuck that fits the mill I bought. I also bought a welder and a box of mixed antique tools. I spent more than I wanted to but I got more than I thought I would. All in all, the auction was a great success. It looked like the old boy really cared for his equipment and I intend to keep it up on the items I brought home.
 
Sometimes we do get lucky! Congrats on your find. Around here tools and farm equipment generally go out of sight. I hardly go to sales anymore.
 
A lot of people left the sale early because of the heat and as always they sell the best stuff last. However they sold the guns about half way through and they went for more than new price. A Taurus 38 revolver brought over 500$. I saw a brand new one of the same model at Gander Mountain a week ago for 350$. A questionable 270 pump brought over 600$
 
Glad you made some good buys. With the mill now have, you now have another way to hurt your self. I have a mill, which is a import, but it does the job and a US made South Bend lathe. I couldn't do without them. Stan
 
I love going to auctions! Don't always buy a lot, but enjoy being there,especially if I get a bargain or a box of goodies.

Don't know who's gonna buy my stuff when I'm gone, but I hope it's someone who's gonna use it and enjoy it like I have. Good deal all the way around.
