I believe this is the first year in my 55 years
of be"en on the farm that all the 1st crop hay
is Off in June.. Most years we have 2 weeks one
could put in hay in June, This year had about 4?
We got Good rain last night in NW PA. A welcome
sight.. 7592 stupid cubes in the barn.. Some-
around 290 Round bales & 200 Wrapped bales. I
Hope we get rain all week, But I know we won"t
according to the Heat Wave coming, the
Corn/beans/ 2nd crop ought to JUMP for the next
few days.

I just finished yesterday. 140 acres,755 round bales. Last year I think it was July 8th or some such thing. Could have been done last weekend if I hadn't been duped into believing it was goig to rain. Oh well, got the roundup sprayed on the corn and moved 400 bales off the field last week anyway.

We did 2nd crop last weekend. The way it looks, we just might get 5 crops this year, instead of 3 1/2 like most years. Of course, a little more rain won't hurt a bit.

(I say 1/2 because not all of the 4th is worth burning fuel to go after....)

4x5 high density from a Gehl 1475TDC. When I bought it they claimed they were 1200 pound bales, but 900 will about catch most of'em.

You're not by yourself. I bought some rd bales of Brome from Missouri last Fall and the gentleman stated the bales would weigh between 1150-1200#s because he had a 1 yr old NH baler. Bales were 4X5-1/2 and actually averaged 920# 's each. Certified scales bring out the true weight.

Did you get a partial refund since the rolls were 255 lbs. lighter in hay than they were suppose to be? On a simi load of 40 rolls that would be 10,200 lbs. of hay that you were shorted.......or about 11 rolls @ 920 lbs. each.

That's some kind of good hay- close to 2 1/2 tons per acre. There have been years around here that was as much as we got all year. I guess we'll approach that this cutting, too. Dam goofy year, but lots of manure last year....

No because I didn't buy the hay by the ton. I notified the seller and all he had to say is "well that he stated that's what he thought they would weigh". There was a lot of hay that was sold and hauled into Texas last year that wasn't the way it was represented.
