Moved into the new house last week.Went to HomeDepot and bought new washer and dryer(General Electric).First load sheet gets wrapped up under the agitator.Call GE service dept.say they will have somebody there that day between 8-12.Comes over 5-min fix.Can do myself in future if needed. What a piece of junk.Anyways my question here is about the fridge that came with the houes.26.5 cuft.side by side Fridgedaire. Not sure how old.Looks pretty fancy for my standards though.Ice and water dispenser.Water line to fridge was shut off when moved in.Turned it on little while later water leaking out under fridge in front.Shut off water line water still leaking out periodically.Have about an inch of ice at bottom of freezer. When guy for washer came I ask for a free couple courtesy questions. He said the the drain for the freezer defrost was plugged theres a hole under the ice,get the ice out and squirt hot water down the hole with a turkey baster, aha sounds great problem solved.Well after getting out ice theres no drain hole there.Does anybody know where this drain hole might be?
Sorry for the long saga, but the washer deal almost put me over the edge.

Thanks
Stan

I would be going back to the shop and getting them to fix everything, these problems are not what you pay for.Let them know you are not a happy fella but in a respectful tone.

Something wrong with the design when the sheet can get under the agitator.

GE does not mean they are a product of the USA.

Frigidaire USED TO BE a decent product when General Motors owned it.. The name vanished by the early 1970's I think... It was reborn in the late 80's or early 90's and is foreign-built, as is most GE-stuff today as well. You can thank Congress and Clinton for that....

If it's not your defroster drain, sounds like your icemaker automatic shutoff valve is shot or stuck. It also could be the water input line to the fridge itself is bad (usually cheap plastic0 or a fitting in that line is bad. Sometimes the shutoff valve will not seal completely and water is still fed at a small rate to the fridge...

Take it one step at a time, eliminate each possibility one step at a time. You will eventually localize your problem.

The answer is probably that you said your water was shut off. When you turned it on,you most likely sent some lime scale from hard water buildup or plain old rust into the water valves on frig, and its probably stuck there letting water seep through. Never turn a valve on without running it and flushing line first,it will save you lots of headaches. Drain line to freezer is most likely in a drain pan under the rear wall of freezer, nearly all are these days because they are far less likely to plug up. Not your problem though i would wager. Very easy way to tell, simply shut the wter off to it.If water continues to build up in bottom its your drain and the water is coming from the defrost cycle,if it does stop its your water valves to ice maker and water dispenser.

I have Frigedaire refrigerator and dishwaher I bought from Sears. I wouldn't buy appliances from Home Depot. Hal

We just replaced our 18 year old Amana, the motor fried- new motor $226 used motor $126 + freight, new cheap Amana washer $319. Shopped around a bit and bought a Maytag (yes I know it's really a Whirlpool) The local Mom & Pop appliance/electric store had a high efficiency Maytag top loader (we're old-that floor is a lot lower than it was when we were kids) it was about $65 cheaper than our local home center (Menards) for a similar washer, our washer is actually one model up from the Menard's washer. For another $40 we could of gotten a high efficiency GE with a "made in America" sticker on the front and mechanical dials & switches rather than solid state keypads. I would of rather had the dials but it wasn't worth the extra money to me. Got the new Maytag home I knew they weren't built in Iowa anymore, the box says Ohio. I think even the LGs are assembled in the USA even though they're a Korean firm. We seem to have kept more of our appliance production in the US.

Bought our frigidaire when new daughter needed her formula kept cool. Worked ok cooling it on the window sill until spring set in. It was second hand at the time. Still our main refrigerator and daughter is 51 years old. I hear the newer ones aren't quite as good.(refrigerators I mean, not daughters) We aren't social climbers though.

Do you have the front filter, which inserts through the front grill of the frige. If so, try taking it out, and then replace it again. Or, buy a new one. I've had mine leak before. I think I simply pulled it out, and re-installed.

Fixed my new frigidaire refrigerator by not connecting the water line. It was the fridge the wife wanted so we bought it and I got what I wanted by not connecting the water. Problem solved, she has ice trays that she fills with water from the tap.

The plastic hose on the fridge has those push together fittings that you are supposed to trust to hold water pressure while you are out on vacation or whatever.

Friend has a new home. Fridge sprung a slow leak and by the time they noticed it it was $7000 in damage to the floor and structure.
