Liquid Fert Pump for JD 7000 planter

What other options are available other than the John Blue Squeeze roller pump for a JD 7000 planter? Use of this pump cause poor spacing and skips for corn. Any ideas appreciated.

Drive a john blue piston pump with orfices in the lines off the transport wheels.

A little wheel drives off the transport wheel.

My Kinze is set up that way if you want pictures I'll get them.

How big is your planter?I have a 4 row White 5100, bought a set of 400 gallon saddle tanks and a electric pump. Put a orfice in the hose going to the row units and dribble 10 gal/acre on top and beside the row. A guy I work with showed me his set up on a 6 row 30" Kinze planter that he uses and I copied it. Worked good. Send me a e-mail if you want some pictures. Chris

The fertilizer pump has nothing to do with corn skips. When is the last time the belts and brushes were checked/changed in the planter units? When was the last time the planter units were calibrated? They don't run forever without servicing.

IAGary, Yes, I would appreciate any pictures. Regarding as to why this would cause planting skips is that when ever the roller is squeezed against the tubes the pressure vibrates severely back to the chain driving the pump and back to the drive that runs the planters mechanisms. It was easy enough to detect by taking a wrench and manually turning the drive shaft. And yes, I did have the pick up units maintenanced this year by precision planting.

The master clutch needs to be checked. At the least the stay rod needs to be adjusted. Possibly the spring that holds the clutch halves is broken or the pin that holds the tension is bent. The clutch jaws do wear over time and I have replaced mine twice over the last 22 years.

I use a 12v Shurflo pump to apply 5gpa starter fert(9-18-9) in corn.Am currently useing the sam system to apply 30 gpa of 32%N to sidedress corn.

How do you get enough flow thru a shurflo pump to put on 30 gal an acre? It would take 10 to 15 minutes to pump 30 gallons with no head pressure.

Unless they have a bigger pump out there then I know of?

Just wondering.

Gary

Gary, The Shur-flow pump I use is 3.8gpm. The guy at Stutsman's said they make them up to 10 or 12 gpm. He also said they have set up several planters like mine is. Chris

My pump is 3gpm.30 gpa is almost at its max.as was said, bigger pumps are also available.Next year,I may upgrade to a bigger pump...
