Any one used AGKits.Com engine overhaul Kits???

I have been looking for an overhaul kit that has higher compression pistons for the older JD 404 engines. My old supplier can no long get the high compression pistons. I really like to use the higher compression pistons in the earlier 404 engines. It really makes them start much better in cold weather and does not seem to hurt them in any way. JD does not offer the kit any longer even through A&I at this time. JD did a few years ago but not right now.

I have found this web site that is called AGKITS.COM/Syracuse Crank & Machine
in Liverpool,NY. They have a kit that claims "Platinum Performance Engine Kits are designed to improve cold weather starting, extend engine life & increase horsepower." and "Platinum Performance pistons raise the static compression of an engine approximately 1.25 points" . These are Advantage Engine Parts. I have not heard of this brand. I don't want to use some cheap import but will really look at a smaller USA brand for this application. They also have Clevite kits but they are not high compression.

So have any of you personally used these kits/brand parts??? How did the quality seem to be?? Even if you have not used them do you know if they are USA made or imported??? Also what kind of company is Syracuse Crank & Machine
to deal with???

They are about an hour away from me. Can't tell you anything about that brand. I imagine you studied the website. I haven't in a while. But the founder/owner was identified on there, and I'm sure you can talk to him. I have been there and met him.
They rebuilt the heads on a Cummins VT903 I had. They provided a rebuilt head for a Cummins L10 I bought. Most recently they provided sleeves, rings, etc. for a JD 4-219 for me. The wrong sleeves sat here for a long time. I thought they had forgotten them! They finally had them picked up. I think a lot of area dealers use them.
Best of luck.

I've been using Don's Diesel for my engine kits for about 10 years now. Have always had good service, quick shipment of my order. Their kits are usually manufactured by Clevite, which use the hi ring piston, gaskets are Victor. Last 404 I did cost about $1200 for an inframe kit (pistons, liners, mains and rods, head and pan set)They are on the web at www.Donsdiesel.com.

I used them to buy a single sleeve for a Farmall 300 since all of the other sites only sold sets. I have not gotten it running yet, but it looked good when I put it in.

Hy Capacity also sells the advantage Engine parts. I have used a couple of the Platinum Performance kits in late 4020's. I have been satisfied so far with them. Last one I ran on the dyno yesterday at 105 hp. As to country of origin I'm not sure.

MSm I can get Clevite kits locally. They are not the high compression kits though. I usually get them for under a $1000 dollars. On the later 404 engines I usually use a Clevite kit or JD depends on the deal I can get on the JD kit. Sometimes the JD kit is on special and I can get it for close to the same money as the Clevite kit.
