I have a #30 kicker on my John Deere 336 baler. I need to get some grease to the "detent on spool end" in the hydraulic valve area, but the distance dial is in the way.

Is there an easy way to get the distance dial off?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response.

I did detach the handle. But the dial is on a threaded rod and the piece right in front of the dial is my problem. It has a flange that hits the side of the thrower to stop the dial at 1 one way and 8 the other way.

Is there a way to take the rod out of the valve?

Thanks again.

You need to loosen the valve from the frame enough that you can turn the stop in front of the dial. You also have to time the stop when assembling so that the valve does not bottom out. Other option is cut a hole in the dial for access like the 40 ejector has.

Thanks. What you wrote is about what I figured I would need to do if there was no way to get the rod out of the valve easily.

How do I "time the stop" as you say?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the help. I got the cap off when I took the 3 bolts out that hold the whole thing to the side. Once that happened I was able to move the dial out of its groove and by loosening the nut behind it create enough room to move it forward to get the cap off.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

There is basically no grease in there, so it needed to be done. I bought the baler used.
