flail mower question

I have what i believe is a mott AT60/74 flail mower.I say this because there are no tags on it .My question is about the drive pulleys and the belt. The shaft pully appears to be original but the mower pully was replaced with a completely wrong pulley so i'm tring to find the correct one. are the two pulleys the same size? or is the mower shaft pulley half the size.

I have a 48 inch Mott flail mower ( the tag calls it a hammer knife ) The PTO shaft goes directly to the right angle gearcase, and the gearcase spins a 6" diameter, double pulley. The lower pulley that turns the knifes, is a 4" diameter, double pulley. The smaller the driven pulley dia. the faster the knives turn!, or the larger Dia. drive pulley the faster the knives turn. The belts are matched belts, and it needs both, to work without burning up a belt. I hope this helps.

May not be right, but my mower has the same size on both ends. When I got mine someone had a chain running the drum. What a mess. I replaced the chain with a 3 groove pulley, and haven't had a bit of trouble all season, with the belts.Stan

Alamo bought Mott and is still in business. They should be able to help you get the right pulley for your mower. Mott's are very well built and will last for decades.

They are the same size on my ancient Mott F6. In addition to your local Alamo dealer, Mott parts are available from two internet sources, Montage (http://www.montageent.com) and Flailmaster (http://flailmaster.com). Montage shows only one drive pulley for all Mott rear mowers, P/N 102501, which may or may not fit your mower. If you call Montage they can tell you exactly what you need. Many of the parts for my F6 aren't shown on their site, but they've been able to source anything I've needed, to the point of making a roller shaft for me.

I haven't had any experience with Flailmaster, and their site is down right now. Others have had good things to say about this company.

I have two of those old machines. One is still runnable and the other is a parts machine so I may have the part you need. My e-mail is always open so if you want parts let me know
