530 deere 3-point

pardon me, but I have a 530 JD and recently put a 3-point on the tractor that never has had a 3-point. My question is when I use the lift in mid range like for bush hogging the lift seems to be jumping as if to correct itself. Any suggestion on how to fix this problem?

You either have a valve out of adjustment or a leaking lift piston or valve. The tractor is jumping the lift back up to hold the same position. I bet if you watch it real close it is going up and down. It may only be a little but it is hunting neutral or is leaking.

Get a IT manual and start to check it out. I have not done one recent enough to tell you how to service it.

Could be you have the top link in the most sensitive position on the tractor. The load-n-depth is more sensitive in the bottom hole. If you have the top link in that hole it might be over-correcting. Try the top hole, if you haven't already done it. There's almost no sensitivity in the top hole.

If it still jerks, then the Oring on the lift piston might be bad as JD suggested. Raplacing the Oring isn't all that hard to do and doesn't require any special tools, that I can remember. It's been awhile for me too. When you get your IT manual, and owner's manual you should be able to figure it out. Jim
