While up on the ladder,I noticed the roof of the old pump house was ready for roof coating, While I have the brush out I might as well do the other 3 shed roofs that have roof coating on them, While on the chicken coop roof coating it,I see a loose slate on the old wagon shed,Imight as well get the rooster ladder out and fix the loose slate. If I look I will find plenty more stuff to do,... ,

it is a long thin wood ladder the pa dutch neighbor gave it to me,you lay it on the slate roof,it hooks over the peak of the roof,so you can climb on the slate roof with breaking slate, He called it a rooster ladder.

Used one of them back in the day when I was a teenager to replace a sheet of tin on the old Ragan house.

Roof has a very steep pitch.

Thanks Larry - I never heard them called that, and I can also understand why they might be called "chicken" ladders.
