My little observation for today.... In the heart of Germany, Got a big cleaning crew (30 or so) cleaning the building.... Boss is german I guess butthe entire crew are Bulgarian. thought they were transplants but all their cars have Bulgarian license plates.....
Real shame.... This company has a constant help wanted ad in the papers but have to hire folks from 3 or 4 countries away.....

Not that different in the USA, Dave.....

Our president just allowed a lot of illegal imigrants to stay in this country, if they are under 30 years old and meet a few other requirements.

I wish the USA would reform it's immigration/ work visa laws to sort this junk out. What we have is not working; what the President did is not to my liking; we need a way to take the 'illegal' out of the illegal immigrants so everyone is playing by the same tax and work rules, and then allow those willing to work from another country to do so in this country. It's clear not many in the USA are willing to take on tough low pay scale jobs, so I'm not against the hard working folk being here.

I just want that 'illegal' part cleaned up, make it all above board and not just with a wink and a pen signing..... Neither party in the USA has done anything to address this, just keep the status quo, which is wrong imho.

--->Paul

Those illegals can't be purged off the voter rolls in Florida. Probably can't in the other 49 states either. Joe

It's all about how much a job pays. If a job pays well, has good benefits and safe working conditions, there's no problem keeping reliable hard-working employees.

People won't "Work for low pay" as long as the Gov't is Handing Money out for NOTHING....

Never heard of a real "Farmer" refusing to do a job because it didn't pay minimum wage...!!!
Worked many a day in Hay (when I was a kid) for a Quarter a day (Family, ofcourse)...!!!
Wonder why we didn't get an Elevator...!!!!
THAT (and the Electric Air Compressor) was like walk'n in TALL Cotton, when we got them..!!!
Ron..

Seems to me, the nnalert would sell the Country to the Devil, for a VOTE..
That is the ONLY reason they are refusing to De-Port the Illegals..
Sad truth is, what will we DO, if they WIN..see Gov't GROW even more un-responsible..??
I just have chills, when I think of John Kerry and his position in the Gov't...a man(?) with 3--(Count 'em THREE) Purple Hearts and NEVER shed ONE drop of Blood to get any of them...(Phoney ALL the Way)..
Pres AND 1st Lady who have BOTH been Dis-Barred because of Fraud and questionable practices....
Sounds like Chicago Business as usual...
Guess I should digress...
Ron..

I agree with Paul, need to get that mess cleaned up.
It just steams Me though to see our Egotist President acting like He is the Premier ruler of the U.S. . If anyone thinks this is more than a vote getting scheme, you need to get your head out of the sand. This narrow thinking idiot has just made getting a REAL solution to the problem much more difficult!

Let me guess..... You's pro union...

These folks are kinda unionized also..... True story from about a half hour ago.... Crew boss called me to come check out a hallway to see if it was OK. Guess he didn't look first... Went up and the entire hallway was spotless and waxed/buffed shiny new... Walked down the hall and there was a spot about 1 foot or so square that wasn't touched. Main boss grabbed the crew chief for the WTF... it rolled downhill and the guy on the buffer said the mop guy/gal didn't move the bucket and his job was only to buff......

That'd make any union member proud wouldn't it????

First law of economics the more the supply, the cheaper the price, if the demand is for 100,000 units a week and we introduce another 10,000 units a week into the market place
prices drop, if we subtract 20,000 units a week prices will tend to increase.

So why is the party supported by 90% of the unions in this country allowing more people into our country to participate in our labor market and drive our labor prices down?

Why aren't our unions proactively encouraging enforcement of existing immigration and labor laws to force labor rates upward?

Why is the party identified as "being in the pocket of big business and the 1%" the one more likely to enforce immigration and labor laws forcing the price of labor (a commodity that big business needs, and that working families sell) up?

Why is it the party of the wealthy and privileged that wants to encourage encourage the development of cost effective cheap energy, a commodity the working class needs, while the
party that's for "the working families" wants to eliminate and tax cheaper sources of energy so everyone is forced to use energy sources that are more expensive and just so
happen to be made by their cronies?

Why is it the party that "supports working families" is continually assaulting the family by trying to redefine family and the very institution that creates family (marriage)?

When we attack and punish those that are successful why are we surprised when our society has less wealth and success?

How long before our collective intelligence is lowered to the point that someone tells us the sun isn't going to rise tomorrow unless we give them more power over our lives and
we believe them and give them the right to tell us what we can eat, drink, drive, who we can marry, hire and do business with let alone tell us what business we can be in and
what we can charge for our goods, services and labor?

I assumed that the President gave amnesty to
infant children, or babies that came over with
wetback parents...grew up in USA..went to grade school, and high School here, spoke only english!
They are American at heart, and I say that they
should be given a chance!
NOW..something on TV recently about Children Born
here..sent "Home" to Mexico when parents were
deported...spoke NO Spanish..having a terrible
time in Mexican schools, AND THEY CARRY AMERICAN
PASPORTS! Something is wrong here!
OK, I'm waiting to see the bigited replies!

I shouldn't bother, but which US president has deported the most illegal aliens? You didn't see Reagan, Bush 1 or Bush 2 do anything about illegal aliens. Even McCain didn't want to build a fence, or unleash ICE.

"came over with
wetback parents..." and you want to reward them for illegal acts of both them & their families!!??? Hey, if they can come & learn English, why is it that in your mind that they can't go and learn Spanish?.........
You don't have a logical argument, ...you are just in the "defend your Supreme leader" mode!

Dave,

I've never been in a union and am not a union supporter.

I'll ask "what wage is the employer offering? Is it enough that you or anyone else would consider changing jobs for? If he's not offering a competetive wage that's his biggest problem.

In this area the meat packing plants used to hire local workers. Then they brought in Mexican replacement workers because the local people made too much money. Then after the iron curtain fell they brought in east european workers and fired the mexicans because the mexicans made too much money. They won't hire anyone who doesn't have a HB1 visa and they complain to the local politicians that they can't hire skilled workers at minimum wage.

The packing plants don't pay well and don't provide medical benefits. The town and the state have to pick up the extra costs for caring for the foreign packing plant workers. It's a mess, but the packing company always makes a big profit.

Could be something to that, but it's not supposed to be. If a company employs someone here, they have to pick up benefit coverage to an extent... Don't know all the loops because I work on the American system......

Allow me to present an actual situation:

I had a student, let's call him Gustavo. Bright kid, tons of potential, incredible artist. Gustavo always told everyone he was a legal resident, applied for financial aid for college the whole bit.

About 5 months after high school graduation, Gustavo had a minor legal altercation. It was something that you average 18 year old gets some community service for. Turns out, Gustavo, to his own surprise was not a legal resident. His parents brought him across the border with them, illegally, when he was 5 weeks old.

Gustavo got deported back to Mexico. He has no remaining living family in Mexico, no support system, no hometown, no job, no future.

Is that fair? Not in the legal sense; the ethical sense.

The communist George Bush II had eight years to deport their rear ends and he did nothing. I do not want to hear about "nnalert" selling the country to the devil.

Not surprising. They are members of the European Economic Community so I think they can travel anywhere in that Community for work. but they may be paid lower than the going rate,I don't know but would not be surprised. Althought there may be an ombudsman for this type of work, most of the workers are ignorant of their rights and entitlement to redress.

AIR is where you go for cotton candy, elephant poop, clowns, etc. What is at issue is the question of abiding by established laws or making exceptions to the law whenever it suits ones convenience? Sorry for the kids inconvenience.....his parents did him wrong...not the law!

Exactly. His parents broke the law. He was a baby. He had no intent. His only immigration crime was existing.

e WAS here illegally! What else do you not understand?

I am not disputing his status as an illegal alien. I am questioning the justice in prosecuting him for it.

If my 8 year old son is in the backseat of my car while I rob a bank would you seek to have him prosecuted as an accessory?

ompassion, 'fairness' & the like are not a legal concept.......more of a religious concept.....not for the justice system.

It's official. Life is not fair.
If it were, they would have sent the people who brought him here illegally back with him so he would have family there.
