Battery Cable Terminal Replacement

We have a D6C CAT dozer which has a bad terminal on the battery. It has some very large cables. We are needing to replace this terminal. Are any of you on the internet aware of where one can obtain large cable replacement terminals? I know we can obtain those for cars and trucks but most of those are too small for this cable. We also need a longer one so the cable will not be too short once we remove the original terminal.

Any assistance you can give will be appreciated.

Any good tractor or heavy truck dealer. You can get crimp on or sorder/heat attachment. Do not try and use the quick fix boldt clamp type

I agree with jm. Don't use the bolt on ones. I prefer the crimp ones combined with sealed heat shrink tube. As said any good truck or heavy equipment shop should have them.

Go to your welding/gas supply store. Welding wire is great for making battery cables and jumper cables. Buy it by the foot.

Bad news! Welding cables are superior to regular battery cables however the cover on the welding cables are not resistant to diesel and oil. I used them on off road motor scrapers for a while. They were subjected to diesel leaks and the insulation swelled up three times it's original size. Got very rubbery and soft. If you have a location where no oils can get to them, they would work fine.

I buy batteries and custom made cables from the local 18 wheeler dealer. They use the crimp on connector and 0 or 00 wire. I use the 3/8" terminals to fit my 31 series HD batteries which I buy from them also at a great price since they buy them by the pallet.
