Guess I have been out of touch. Why is James at farm all week while Nancy is in Dallas area through work week?

James couldn't get all the hay cutting, raking, baling, picking up sticks, etc. done on the weekends anymore, so he up and retired. Nancy helps on the weekends.

(quoted from post at 05:35:09 06/09/12) Nancy helps on the weekends.

And thinks up wierd names for dogs..................

I think that, given the fact that a dog is "MAN'S best friend", and Nancy only sees Flash on weekends, the bentley decision should be veto'd and the name going to Flash as a default.......

Retired early and moved to the farm back in August.

Long term plan has always been whoever retired first or got a job first in NE Texas moved to the farm.

Been really busy "haying" lately; don't know how we got it all done just on weekends.

Got a full time job here on the farm; pays not as good, but get along good with the boss.

Nancy is working a "compressed" 40 hr week during the summer and gets Monday off every week for a 3 day weekend.

Gives her an opportunity to unwind from the big city rat race.

We keep in touch via email during the week and she "monitors" my posts/replies here on YT.

Thanks for asking.

James. How is the hay coming along up there. We have had some good hay so for. But unless we get some more rain. I am afraid it will be a repeat of last year. I was doing good hauling fertilizer the last month and a half. But now the loads have almost stopped. I think I have one load next week.

Compared to this time last year, hay production is excellent.

<a href="http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttales&th=6212">Baled a little hay last Wednesday</a>.

Probably get second cutting off the bottom in a couple of weeks.

Waiting for the Bahia grass to go to seed before its first cutting.

Coastal Bermuda hay meadow should be ready by July 4th for third cutting.

Looking for any rain we can get.

Lets me take a lot of rest/water breaks during work hours.

When it gets hot in the late afternoon, lets me go to the house and take a "power" nap before starting evening shade work.

How much do those bales weigh (about)????? I just can't see where someone could get a ton in a round bale of good hay but haven't seen everything.....
