spell check and beating the potty filter... FYI

Hey, may be old news but a great discovery in my little cyber world...

Folks are always asking about spell check on here (and other forums).
Also, how many times have you typed out a long thread or response only to have it rejected because of a bad character or you slipped in a nono word?? And have all your typing just go away......
"Beating" the filter may not be the best choice of words. Say beating the wipeout piece so you can correct and submit without retyping everything...

I had problems uploading some pics to facebook on my laptop at home...
Tried everything and ended up going to firefox as a browser instead of internet explorer...

Things work much quicker, solved my upload problem, and now, if a word is misspelled, you get the red squigly line and you can rightclick the word for the correct spelling...
But, better yet, is when the filter catches you, you can click "back" and your stuff will be there to correct and submit.

Just thought I'd share...

I've known for a long time that "classic" works better on Mozilla/Firefox than on IE. I never thought to spread the word, though.

I always use the "back" trick, as it has a couple of other benefits: it doesn't convert your line breaks to html tags, and it eliminates the bizarre conversion of single quotes to doubles.

The only downside to using "back" on Firefox is that when I switch to my work laptop, which has IE only, I'm constantly losing my posts because I'll hit "back" out of habit. To avoid losing long posts, I try to remember to copy them onto my clipboard before submitting them to preview.

Been using Mozilla/Firefox for years. Besides being better than Explorer, supposedly viruses have a harder time traveling on Firefox because the coding is different.

That DOES NOT mean if you use Firefox you won't get viruses, just means there MAY be fewer of them.

I started with IE but quickly jumped to Netscape during Windows95, (might have been during windows3.1). Went to Firefox when Netscape died out. Same basic platform. IE still gives me trouble. Moving to another computer is easier with Firefox too. I can save the Firefox settings, bookmarks, and everything. Can't with IE.

I'm just the other way around. My IE leaves my posts there for the occasional typo. I tried firefox but it often "needed to close". I have in the past tried to view a picture of a video that firefox did not allow. I'm still an IE.

I guess thats why Dodge, Ford and Chevy are still in business. It's because everyone is entitiled to their own rediculous opinion :)
