Hey folks,
Just picked up a new mulcher (flail mower?) and need to go over a couple pastures... Anyone use these mowers? My first time, and I am wondering if the grass has to be dry or if wet/damp is OK... Need to get them topped off so I can get another stand of nice grass on them but have to do hay in the next dry window. If moisture isn't an issue, I can knock the mulching out while waiting for the dry hay window.

Thanks for any tips....

Dave

It would need to be fairly dry. If you use it when the grass is very wet you will get big clumps of wet mushy grass. They will kill the grass they fall on.

It does not have to be as dry as hay but not real wet either. The more grass the dryer it should be. Real coarse and stemmy stuff can be wetter.

OK... Guess I'll hold off til next week...
Stuff isn't really thick or even that much... Mostly the poo piles, stems and a few clumps of weeds & passed over grass (cause I didn't harrow the poo last fall)...

Thanks...
