Would you believe I never did get to tour it back in the late 70s when I was stationed down there at the navy base. Almost got my self in hot water over a motorcycle ride I took and was clocked doing a tad over 140mph on the interstate got luck that there was an over pass but no on ramps to it so I just went up the hill and the cop car spun out trying to catch me.
Hope you tie every thing down real good I know there can be some strong winds down that way if and when it wants to blow hard. Got lucky never had that when I was down there

RB, Up here in the foothills of The Blue Ridge, we've been getting showers on and off all day. We sure needed it. The folks that have lake front property on some of the lakes have been high and dry for awhile. I reckon we need more of these tropical storms to really help.

Lower end of Greenville county its been coming day pretty muc hall day since about 10 this morning. It got real light several times, but never stopped where I work. It was misting when I left at 4:30. By the time I got home in Laurens County, it looked like it hadnt even rained.

ohnM, we're nearly neighbors. I see you're from Gray Court. I worked near there back in my younger days in the early 70's. You might remember the cattle operation owned by Bob Yeargin, 'Bullhill Ranch'. I worked for him. We ran about 350 head of herefords at that time. When Yeargin got out of the cattle business he sold part of the place to an apple grower from France. They planted thousands of trees and then pretty much abandoned the place. I'd like to know what's the story on that orchard.

Yep, know it well. I helped plant those trees!!!! My uncle had a big Cat, dont rememeber what it was, but he cut the trench and layed the waterpipe, and I rode behind him on a smaller Cat pulling this tree planter thing. Had a little Mexican that would keep it loaded for me. Spent many hours after school and weekends over there planting those trees. Apple farm is gone, so are most of the trees, but the old homestead is still there, and a few areas now have houses on them. Do you rememebr on down the road a little peice, the guy who had the old McCormick pull behind combine, Mr Owens, he was my great uncle......

Anyways, rumor has it the trees gave out, stopped producing apples, but I heard from one of the Mexicans who worked there, that INS came in and shut the place down, and the French werent going to pay the fines, so they hired a broker to sell it all off. O know one of the lots has a "roadside" flower market there. Next time Im over that way, Ill snap some pics.
