My son had to go to Jamestown RI to get what he left there ...rent a 14 foot U-Haul pulling a ski boat... he left Sat 5pm and got here { Pella, Ia. middle of Iowa } at 4pm Sunday... said it took him 23 hours ...
Didn't say , but I'm thinking he took some of that 5 hour stuff ..

Just glad he made it save ... I know I COULDN'T do it any more ...

I drove 14+ hrs. into Oklahoma when I was 18. Didn't bother me a bit. Made 6 hr drive last weekend moving son to Marinette, Wisconsin. It was pretty rough on me.(32 years later)

I remember going out with friends to the bars after working all day, get home at 1am then get up at 5:30 to go to work on Saturday morning. That takes the life out of you. I only did that a few times. I was 21 then.

You know we spend 14-16 hour days running machinery all the time seeing the same old stuff, but if we get in a car and drive a long trip and see different things, we are pooped!

I was 71 when my wife had "very urgent" quadruple bypass surgery. (The doctor stopped just short of calling it emergency).

I'd gone to work, same as usual, that day. My wife's problem surfaced about 9:00 pm. I was up all night while they stabilized her, transported her by ambulance from our local hospital to the hospital in Lincoln, did a cardiogram, then the operation was performed at 8:00 am. By the time I got home the evening after the operation, made a bunch of phone calls, and got to bed, I'd gone an even 40 hours without sleep.

I said afterwards it was nice to know I could still do it if I had to, but I wouldn't want to do it every week.

Amen. But I blame it on all the idiots on the road. Sometimes I swear there's some kind of attractant on my vehicles, for all the jerks on the center line, or crossing it towards me!

Two summers ago, I drove home with my family from Mt. Rushmore to Saginaw, MI pulling the fifth wheel, 21+ straight hours, no problem.

Heck, I have 300 miles and 6 hours windshield time planned for this coming Tuesday, just doing my job. And I'm 77.

I'm convinced the main reason people feel old is because they reach a particular age and THINK they should be feeling old at that age.

It's certainly nice to be young but we didn't realize it when we were young. I spent some crazy long hours behind the wheel during my wheat harvest days, both in a truck and a combine but I couldn't do that now. Jim

I think Goose has it right. Don"t let a number put an age on you.
First part of March I took a 23 hour drive down to Nashville, did take a couple hours nap time in a Wal-mart parking lot. Did drive 21 hours back just stopping for gas and same fast food.
I remember being 18, 19, party all night, get home in time to go to work. Up to last summer I was still playing softball, had to quit because of a job change.
But I do beleive in getting my yearly checkups and any tests the doctor wants, get my yearly PSP test I think its called, had a colonoscopy 2 years ago and a couple of Hemorrhoids fixed but all good otherwise.
I am only 52, just a young lad compared to a lot on here but don"t plan on letting a number decide what I can or cant do will let my body tell me. And yes my body is telling me I can"t do what I did when I was 18 but can still do a lot of it.
