The pto seal is leaking so I installed a new seal from Kubota. It still leaks but between shaft and steel insert(resembles seal saver) in seal. What do I put between shaft & steel insert to seal it?? Thanks,Jim

Jim I think the shop uses a product from LocTite. Any good sealant, not any preasure there but just the oil seeping past. Getting it dry and clean will be the secret. Sorry I can,t be of more help but Your parts store should know of the locktite sealant.

Thanks for quick reply. The Kubota WSM(tech manual) didn't state any type sealant required but with oil leaking between shaft and metal ring I thought some sealant was necessary.
Thanks again,Jim

jm is correct. The Loctite product made for retaining/sealing cylindrical products. It is rated to fill gaps up to .005. It is oil/grease resistant. I use it all of the time for bearings, seal wear sleaves, and drive shaft yokes.

The number and name: Loctite 603 Retaining Compound

I had to go look at my bottle to see the product number. I first got to using this twenty years ago. JD had a PIP that called for it. I had to order it from the local Loctite dist. He told me what all it was used for. I have kept a bottle ever since. I have not ever had an issue with a speedy sleave leaking when I use this. I also use it on PTO bearing that are supposed to seal the oil too. I have had them leak between the shaft and bearing too.

I use the ten ounce bottle and it is about Fifty dollars. I am sure they have it in the smaller tubes too.

Hope this helps.
