Got this scam in my inbox this morning. She sounds like such a nice old lady, though she could learn some grammar. LOL

Grammar is hard to come by in Nigeria.

My question is- how would anyone stupid enough to fall for this, be smart enough to have more than about 8 cents to their name?

A little off the subject but somewhat along the same line. When Grand Forks , N Dakota had their great flood in 1997, a wealthy lady stepped up and gave several families affected by flood, a $2000.oo check. She wanted to remain unknown but her identity did come out later one. It was a god sent for many.

Dear Missus Willis Morgan

Living in Texas, I wondered about that zip code. Although it's sort of close, it's actually an invalid zip code. In other words, it doesn't exist. You would think they would at least try to get an accurate zip code to go along with their fake non existant address! Google it, you will see it comes up in Germany. Hey wait, maybe that's Dave2's address!!!

Stupid people come from all walks of life, Doctors, bankers, lawyers, and Indian chiefs have fell for these scams, there was a piece on tv not many days ago about the greedy that have sent millions to these scumbags thinking they were fixin to be set for life.

She is doing pretty well. I guess lung cancer is much slower in Nigeria, she has made it over 8 years since the diagnosis.
If she had only listed her phone number, dang it!
LOL

The sad thing is it just makes all those honest Nigerians looking to give away thousands of dollars look like they are crooked.

Thats the typical giveaway, the language barrier and their use of language, it always surrounds some life altering, tragic, or similar event, including someone passing away.

The fun thing about stringing these clowns along is that you can use the same tactics on them say once you run out of "fodder" to throw at them to keep em on the hook, all seems fine things are going well, they keep pestering you for information, bank account or similar, then you have to inform them that so and so was involved in a horrific plane crash, auto accident, make a fake news article, obituary and so on, works both ways. Those Ebola and 419 Baiter websites really shine on messing with these people, they do state that you need to be careful, some may have operatives in the U.S., but I'd like to see one show up, SSS.
