Tractor tire prices?

Anyone brought any 18.4 - 26"s recently? I have a casing breaking up, and need to replace one, or preferably the pair on FWA front axle. Local tire places started quoted $1500 per tire....nearly $3500 for a pair fitted/loaded? Eventually got down to $1100 per tire for Firestones. Is this reasonable?
Thanks,
Chris

Tire prices have gone through the roof regardless of what they are for. I've been pricing P295/75-R22.5's for my service truck over the past few weeks. The best price I've got is $358 apiece, and that's for a decent name brand compared to some of the "better" name brands which are upwards of $500 each. I've got one steer tire that's still around 75%, and one that's got uneven wear on it because I can't keep the alignment perfect due to going off road as much as I do. So, I looked into some good, used takeoffs. I found some but the asking price on them was around $275 each. Even retreads are high. I had to give $295 for a retread a few months back when I blew a tire on the side of the road 100 miles from home. I 'bout choked when they priced a retread that high.........

Good luck with your situation, I thought the ones I am having to buy were high priced.....

Just ordered a pair of 12.4x36 for my Super C Farmall, $475 each. I bought a pair in 2007 for $770, which included tubes.

Used tires in this size don't exist, unless you buy a tractor along with them. I toyed with that idea, but all the ones I looked at had pretty bad tires, or new tires and paint jobs that priced the tractor way too high.

18.4-26 were used on a bunch of combines.

Nearly new ones can be found for not a lot of money, as the combines have been junked, many not having much use on their second set of tires.

For standard bias ply tires, $1500 each for 18.4x26's is out of line unless they're radials or log skidder tires.

BKT's are around $750 each at Pete's tire barn if you want to go absolutely cheap-o. If you can find a local BKT dealer, you can replace both tires for what one of the name brands would cost you.

Yup, tractor tires are real pricey. We need a tire for one of our JD MT's. Price at our usual tire store was $750.00 each. We're shopping for used, but they are hard to come by.
