Sad Day

Local 19 year old enlisted in the Air Force earlier this year was found murdered. He was doing his SERS at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington State. It is not known yet what happened, just that he was murder. They put up the avenue of flags from town to the church, About a mile. 2100 flags. We went to the wake and stood in line for 2 hours to pay our respect to the family.

Unfortunately, and it may have always been this way, but lots of kids in the military were just one step out of prison when they go in. I know they raked our son over the coals for a few minor offences when he was in High School and it was a hassel to get him in. Once in the Navy he served with a spotless record and it was really good for him.

Too bad about the young man.

x2. Still a sad thing to happen. Military has straightened out many a young man, but some don't make it. While in the AF saw quite a few get bumped out after joining, usually for drugs. Hopefully not the case this time, and very nice to see he got a good send off.
