Pics of the eclipse in NM

Here are some pics from SW of Clovis.

It sure was one of the most beautiful evenings I can remember - perfect temps, breeze felt sweet & humid, fish were jumping, made for a really super evening for a picnic to watch the eclipse.

Great pictures! I flew into Cannon AFB several times in the late 1970s. They had F-111s then. Saw some spectacular sunsets before we would return to Vance AFB after dark.

Gary I remember one time when we flew into Cannon, all the F-111s were grounded. When we taxied by them, all the engines were out. That flight line had great Mexican food on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

Thanks, I really wanted to see the eclipse. But we had heavy overcast yesterday and it only got a little darker than it normally would have been at that hour. I was disappointed...but today we got rain, which we really need right now. So I can"t complain too much about there being clouds.

Neat photos!

Here is one before the actual sunset.

Since it was still a lot brighter then, and I didn't want to risk damaging my Nikon camera (depending on who you listen to as to whether or not that can happen), I took this one right at the heart of the eclipse through a welding helmet glass.

It is a little bit "boring" as a standalone photo, but when you know what you are looking at, it is more interesting...

We were right at the west side of the lake on the water's edge! Where were you?

I was with my boy who is 16.

We saw several people fishing around the lake...

That don't surprise me. We left Cannon one time with 12 jets bound for Korea. Landed in Korea with 4 of the 12. They were flying junk heaps worked on them more than we flew them. Yep it was a good little place to eat till AFFES took it over.

Wish I had known you hung out on ytmag - we could have talked tractors!

That is neat about the fish - while my boy & I were hanging out having a good time, a big old fish struck something on the surface, it looked & sounded like it a heavy two footer!!
