Putting head studs in

I need to put the studs back in the block for the head. The machine shop said to put teflon on the threads to seal them.

Any good methods for tightening them?

Double nut them, lock the nuts together, install the studs and remove the nuts.

you do not have to torque the studs in. you torque the nut. Dave

I was wondering how tight you would put them in?

Double nut them as suggested below and install them just good and snug. You dont want to damage the threads on the studs or block by overtightning them. And yes, use sealer on any stud that might go into the water jacket.
