I'm not paranoid........

They really are out to get me!

Monday, I was driving east on Nebraska Highway 92 near Mead, NE in the middle of the usual 2 lane traffic when some bonehead driving a big John Deere 4X4 tractor pulling a folded 24 row planter drove right out onto the highway into the middle of the traffic. Vehicles were swerving, tires squealing, and all that. Don't know where his head was, but it seemingly never occured to him that there not only might be traffic on the highway, but it would have the right-of-way over him.

Wednesday, I was westbound from Atlantic to Oakland, Iowa on U.S. Highway 6 when I drove over the top of a hill and a dump truck came sailing out of a field road drive right in front of me. I missed him by about two feet. The way he shot out of the drive, he obviously never even slowed down, let alone checked for traffic.

Then, a little while ago, I stopped at a HyVee grocery store in Lincoln to pick up something for lunch. While driving properly down a lane in the parking lot, some idiot cutting crossways across the lot came within about a foot of broadsiding me.

What with boneheaded drivers, mean dogs, rickety basement stairs, snakes in basements, etc, I sometimes think I should get hazardous duty pay on this job.

You ain't kidding Goose,..I think it is funny when I am driving my big Ford truck and a little Japanese car is riding right on my tail. I just picture the ball of my RV hitch going right in the mouth of the person driving it if I were to make an immediate stop.

Morons are out there,..I hear ya!

Goose,

It seems like everyone is in a big hurry all of the time. A couple of days ago I stopped a red light to make a right-hand turn. Seriously, my truck wasn't stopped for more than one second when the guy behind me blew his horn. I guess he thought that I should have just rolled through the red light and made the turn without stopping.

Based on the way some people drive, I sometimes wonder if they have ever actually driven on a road before.

saw that happen in Chicago, little VW beetle getting honked at through 2 stop lights by Caddy driver. Second light little beetle moved forward a foot then stopped, driver got out and glared at caddy driver, then put on his police jacket and cap, pulled out ticket book and made caddy driver get out and do drunk test while officer performed a vehicle inspection- tickets for bald tires, intermittent defective lights and horn test with hood open had a failure when wires to horn failed to stay connected to horn- might have had something to do with gloved hand inside hood pulling wires. Tail pipe emissions got a "must go to inspection lane in 3 days or license plate will be on revoked list" ticket. Officer was Taler sized.

Reminds me of a time when a friends car died on a quiet, but multi lane city street, ( in the evening) some guy sat behind him blowing the horn as he worked under the hood. THE GUY HAD A LANE TO JUST GO AROUND HIM. Finally he leans out and yells "O.K. BUDDY, YOUR HORN WORKS, NOW TRY THE BLINKERS!!!"

I know what you mean. Just this past week we were driving north on a state route. As we came to a green light, not 50' form the intersection a little white car came tearing around the bend running the red light. Squalling all four tires trying to keep it in his lane of traffic as a semi was coming from the other direction. I was doing 55, never touched the brakes and never got an inch closer to him. That boy wasn't slowing down for nothing. If he would have lost traction it would have been over for him.

Yeah.

Coupla years ago, I was waiting to walk across the street at 48th & Vine in Lincoln, NE, one of the busiest intersections in town, when a gal made an illegal U turn in the intersection against oncoming traffic. When whe went past me, I saw she had a cell phone in one hand and a sandwich in the other. How was she driving the car?

welcome to the world of heavy hwy trucking. I finally got tired of watching out for everyone else and just retired!

The dumazzes finally started to run out of luck around here. Some young chucklehead who had lost his license a long time ago for drunk driving, ran a stop sign a week ago Sunday and killed the driver of the van he hit. I guess he's brain dead himself, just don't know that the family has unplugged him yet. Then about a week ago somebody crossed the centerline just north of town and hit somebody head on.

Wife and I spent 4 weeks in the Florida Keys last winter--beautiful place and I really liked it--BUT now I know where people go when they can't pass a drivers licence test anymore. Driving thru a parking lot is a dangerous thing!

In that case you put it in reverse and move back a foot all the time trying to see the look on his face in the RV..
