John Deere 4555 Hydraulic oil disappearing

We added two gallons to the hydraulic system yesterday and three more today and it's low again! No obvious leaks anywhere, so where might it be going? The crankcase level stays stable. Any ideas? We're pulling a JD 1770 16-row planter in soybeans.

Check the grease fittings on the side of the torsion bar frame that holds your draft links. You may be loosing oil out of them under load and never notice it because of where it is.

Is that JD 1770 a two point hitch planter??? If it is then you more than likely have a load control shaft seal leaking. It is where donjr told you to look. It is the saddle that the lift arms hook to. Look about four inches up from the lift arm pin.

Number 5 in the picture is the seal.
