Hi, Thanks for sharing . Would be fairly expensive board for the horse at those facilities.
Cheers, Murray

Hmmm, wonder where the money all comes from. Here in Illinois if your in politics you have no problem building a barn like that, several times over. A big show horse breeder in Dixon Illinois just got busted for taking over 53 million from the county while she was Treasurer.

Oh I've seen that place before. The live healthy horses go in on the right... then your boxes of meat go out the left. People there to help load it in your car, but ya got to tip em.
Since they tore down Satriale's pork market, the Soprano's lease a spot in there....third window on the right from the door...

Horse boarding at the facility I get my manure from charges upwards of $900 a month for the full board. Rates to lease a paddock start at $250/mo. Not nearly the facility shown.

I delivered a load of hay to a very high end facility in Magnolia TX that had a barn similar to the one you show. Their rates started at $1400 per month per horse. Both are at full capacity.

Lots of big money thrown at hay burners. I had them growing up and they where big fun. They were expensive even then. I always had an odd job of some kind just to pay vet bills and buy feed.

Every now and then I get the urge to have horses again and go rent one on the beach in Galveston to get it out of my system. Much cheaper to rent than own.

Really?? There's a retired one sitting one town over at a shop, being parted out. My late friend and I always picked up bodies in a Chev. Suburban or a full size E150/250. Had rails and all installed for the slide/ stretcher. No bull. Now, actual funeral homes usually use hearses, Caddillac, Chevrolet, Buick, Mercedes conversions. I have even seen an antique Lincoln in TX...
As far as my friend is concerned: They brought him to his final resting place on a LaFrance Pumper/Tanker.... he was also a retired Assist. Fire Chief earlier in his career. -- Still miss you, Butch... 8-(

Not suprising. Look at some of the thoroughbred farms in Kentucky?? Beautiful placese. Claiborne, Gainesway,Lanes End, Calumet, ect

Hmmm, wonder if that's why Illinois has money problems? Too many fingers in tax payer's pockets!

Anybody heard of J. Z. Knight, the lady who made a career out of "channeling" the teachings of Ramtha, a warrior who lived 35,000 years ago? Its one of the longest running, most successful scams I know of. Among her adherants is Linda Evans, of "Big Valley" (The highly delicious Audra Barkley) and "Dynasty" or "Dallas" (can't recall which). Google J Z Knight- its pretty interesting.

Anyhow, my dad did a lot of the finish work on her barn. The fact that you employ a finish carpenter on a barn tells a lot- it is even flashier than the one shown. I tried to find a picture of it on the net to post, but was not successful- she has a fence around her place that probably cost much more than my farm, and is pretty jealous of her privacy. Dad said she often came out and talked with him- "Nice gal", said he- "and obviously pretty talented, to pull this off."

Part of her talent was not trying to recruit followers unless they had first shown an interest- evidenced by the fact that she never got anywhere near the Ramtha thing while talking to dad or the other workers. It was as if she knew they all thought it was BS, and didn't want to create a situation where they would quit or she would have to fire them. Nobody wanted to rock the boat, and it worked out fine.
