Custom hay prices?

What is the custom hay cutting, raking and baling prices for large round bales in your area this year? I am thinking about charging $21.00 on average yield fields.

I have never charged by the bale but have always done it on shares where the land owner got 1/3 and we got 2/3s. That is if you do all the work and the land owner did nothing but knew you where doing the hay

I'd want at least 60 dollars per acre to cut/tedder/rake and bale on decent ground. You figure how many bales per acre. That could run anywhere between 6-10 dollars per bale here for a 4x4 round. Double that for a 5x6...
That figure doen't really allow for much/any repairs outside of 'normal' maintenance. If you were to smack into a rock and bust a module in the discbine.... those kind of repairs would be above that.

I do 5x6 bales, cut, raked, baled with netwrap, and moved off the field for $25 a bale. Fuel prices really don't make much difference in the cost.

SW Oklahoma: either cut, and baled on the half, or $13-14 per acre cut, and $13-14 per bale, usually 5x5s. no separate charge for raking, usually not needed. Baling with twine, net may run a $1 more/bale.
2 yrs ago and prior to that, my good neighbor cut and baled for 10/10, heck of a deal I got from him! But he's a good neighbor!!
