I"ve got some sweet corn seed seed left from a couple years ago. Would it still be ok? A pound of seed isn"t that expensive. Wouldn"t want a "crop" failure!

Check the germination on it. Put a few kernels in between some damp paper towels for 3 or 4 days and see how many sprout. I just planted some that was 4 or 5 years old and the germ was real good, in fact it came up a lot better than the new I just bought.

Easy to check. Take a few of them and lay out some paper towels and soak them with water. Then put a few of the seed between them and let them sit a few days. Say do 10 seeds. watch them as for growth then count how many try to grow and you have an idea how good or bad they are

we always buy last years leftover sweet corn. its alot cheaper and it always works great. do as other have said and put some in a wet paper towel.

If they were in the freezer or frig they should be ok, Ive got some Ive had for 5 yrs and did just fine , but I keep mine in the freezer, I should have sweet corn ready to pick in about 4-5 weeks.good luck Rick

Soak a few kernels in some liquid fertilizer and plant them. If they come up I would plant them. I use to soak all my sweet corn seed in Miracle Gro liquid fertilizer. After hand planting I would pour some on top of the seed before covering them. Hal

You lose 15% germination a year. 3 years and you are less than 50% if you don't put it in the freezer.
