F250 super duty transmission

Took a load of scrap to the scrapyard Friday. It was hot and had the truck sitting there idiling and when I moved it noticed a pool of trans fluid on the ground. When I pulled around I noticed that the fluid was coming from my 1999 F250 at the bell housing. This trcuk has 95000 miles and sits a good bit. Any ideas as to what could be wrong. The trans cooler was replaced about 6 months ago due to a deer, was told they would do that if the trans cooler was replaced with a aftermarket.

buddys truck that he inherited from his dad did the same thing. It was the front pump seal. It hadnt been sitting qqite a bit before that and they said it had just dried up but it was a weak spot.

Hmmm Not 100% sure on that one. But I know for sure its not because of an aftermarket cooler. I don"t know if that year truck has a drain plug on the torque converter, if it does its possibly that its loose and leaked. Not likely though

Well, I had a '97' that started doing that at about 150,000 miles. The mechanic originally suspected the seal. Nope! Seems the tranny case developed a leak right through the wall of the case! "Case porosity" I believe he called it. Rare, but he had heard of it. The fix was a new case and the guts of old trans. put in it.

Probly a seal. Could be time for a rebuild though-- with that kindof mileage. I've never gotten more than 125k out of one of those Ford tranny's.

I had 1, tranny went out at 87000, motor went out at 105000. got rid of it, cost me 3000.00 to get rid of it.
