4010/4020 front mounted implements

Just curious, been getting things ready for spring and my dad and I were talking about the front PTO and implement mounts on or new gen tractors. Neither of us have seen much in the way of front implements for that era of tractor. A few snowblowers and snowplows rigged to work, but that is it. Were there any common implements used on the front of new gen deeres, or other tractors of the same era? Or are the mounts just a holdover to allow farmers to use cultivaters and such that they already owned? Did a google search and came up with nothing.

Down here in Texas back when New Generation tractors were NEW many farmers used frt mounted cultivators,bedders/listers & a few planters because of the point rows created by the terraced land that was row-cropped. I sold JD FM,6 & 8 row frt cultivators for Newer generation tractors(4430 & 4440's). You must understand that was before notil, flat planting and herbicides were widely utilized here. When I was a child it was believed that row-crop seed wouldn't germinate/survive if no planted on a elevated bed(row). Frt pto's were used to operate sprayer pumps and side mount cycle mowers but no snow blowers.

Frankly, I think Deere had INTENTIONS of having a whole line of front-mounted implements when they designed the "new gen" tractors.

There was no way they could've known that farming would go in the direction it went. Seems like it turned out that farmers wanted affordable implements that mounted quickly and easily, so rear-mount 3pt implements from short-line manufacturers pretty much took over.

JD have a comprehensive line of front and rear rowcrop implements back in the era of New Generation tractors. JD had these 3pt implements that I sold new RM cult,6100 planters,400 folding rotary hoes,700 flexible bedder. I remember the heavy built rear model 700 bedders(7 row) with independent gauged row units that a 4430 couldn't lift without a field installed external stroke control apparatus that bolted to rockshaft and a hyd line ran from that valve to the stroke control valve in frt pump. I was setting in the SGB of a 4430 raising the 700 bedder when the rockshaft housing exploded and I needed a "Fruit of the Loom" change.

If a person takes the blinders off and realize that most of the world is not the USA and that Deere is a world wide company. One will find that the front mounted equipment market is alive and well. European farmers in particular look forward when farming instead of backwards.

Could you "PLEASE" list some the models of front mounted rowcrop equipment that JD is building in 2012? I was unaware they still produced any.
Thank you,Jim

I guess I could refine my question and add "in America". Nah, I`ll keep my blinders on, and go out and pet my European implements that are all 3-point and drawbar mount.

In general, if the tone of your reply would get you thumped on in a face to face conversation, it doesn`t need to be typed out, either.

Always wondered why some of you folk are so thin skinned and resort to violence as a first choice? Xenophobia is often a way of life too, always wondered why?

Violence is sometimes the only way to teach certain people to be polite.

As far as xenophobia goes, you seem to be exhibiting far more symptoms of it than I, I simply asked a question about implements.

Hence shoot first and ask questions later policy..........
I was merely pointing out there are vast markets for same/similar/different equipment around the globe. Isn't going to hurt to look at the countries your ancestors immigrated from.
Deere tried the front rockshaft on the late two cylinders ad the early new Generation tractors. Even had mid pto's for a while.
The 7230 at work is equipped with a front 1000rpm pto and rockshaft/three point hitch. Handy unit for blowing snow.
A search on youtube will find frot mounted two way ploughs, forage harvesters etc.

And you missed the whole point of the original question, which was mid and front implements for new gen deeres and similar. I am aware of many of the newer european ag implements, and I do like them. I was asking about what was intended for the front of a 4020.
