IH 184 Zenith Carb

I recently replaced the internals of my IH 184 Zenith carb (needle, needle seat, float pin, and gasket --- the floats were fine). Mowed with the 184 for 2 hours then it started running rough and eventually stalled. Noticed a good amount of gas coming out of the carb (through the gasket). What did I do wrong? I noticed when I put the carb back on that I had to open the main jet adjustment quite a bit to get it to run. Any help would be appreciated.

possible crud in needle & seat . gotta tear it down to find out . OR I have done this several times . shut fuel off. run it out . Just before it dies open shut off . tap on carb by inlet . sometimes it flushes the crud out of the needle and seat .

The tractor will start and run for a minute before stalling. It will start again if I let it sit for a few minutes but will then stall after a minute. Does that still point to crud in the carb?

Ignition system seems fine. Problems appear to be carb leaking gas even when being parked for the night. Starts fine but dies after a minute. Have to let site a minute to get it to start again but then dies again.

I would bet the float is sticking occasionally and that it may be set too low. Had a Ford with MS carb that had same symptoms you describe.
