saved some emails to Documents.Where there were pictures they now have x"s, usually to open I right click and it comes up as "show pictures". On this occasion it says select all.
What must I do to view the pictures?? XP

I'm smart enough to see what happened, but not smart enough to help you.

There are different ways to save such documents; as just text the pictures might not have been saved with the document.....

Stuff like that happens all the time to me too.

go back thru your email program and see if the emails are still in your trash folder...you have to save pictures in a separate file.
 
The images in your emails were probably web links.

Depending on your particular email client, you may be able to save your email in a different format that will capture the images as well.

By the way, it's a bad idea to have images load by default. Spam email usually contains an image link (often not even visible) that the spammer uses to confirm that you opened the email. Set your email preferences so that you don't automatically load images.
 
Depending on which email sw you use, images embedded/attached to emails usually end up in a separate folder such as "downloads" or "attachments". When you delete the email the corresponding images usually get deleted too. I don't know what "saving an email to documents" means in your case, it may just save the text. If so, if/when you deleted the email from you email sw it probably deleted the images too.
 
You need to right-click each picture and save it separately.

It still won't show up in the document when you open it but at least you'll have your pictures.

Don't waste your time saving the emails off to documents. Your email software (outlook, thunderbird, etc) has its own system of folders so you can organize your emails and save them. The attachments will stay attached and the pictures will show up.

Of course if you're using an online service like gmail, yahoo, hotmail, or another... you're stuck saving everything separately.
