Wire is outa me.

It took 2 days ,but they got the broken wire the hospital left in me out.It ended up being 4 inches long from the skin allmost to the heart. Its just ridiculus that nothing was done when i first showed it to them and said it was hurting me.When i took my shirt off and layed down the wire poked up the skin and all the docters and nurses wanted to feel it.

The obvious question is: have you talked to a lawyer specializing in medical malpractice? It sure sounds like you might have a case worth pursuing. Good luck!

I understand your point, well maybe. I had a kidney killed by a surgical mistake. I did talk to the doctor to insure it didn't happen again. As long as my other kidney works I am good to go. was I hurt?only pain for a time in hospital but wes not discovered for 5 years, therefore no real harm. Could I have got a cash windfall, possibly. maybe have ruing an otherwise doctor. No the doctor did not try to talk me out of suing , that was my decision. Who amoung us has not had a serious mistake??? are we always made to pay??? no

No doubt that the medical section of our economy will make some mistakes. I have read that as many as 100,000 people die every year in the USA from medical mistakes. Compare that to 30,000 on the highways.

They are human and mistakes will happen. What I don't understand is why we worship them, and feel that they have a divine rite to live like kings as the costs for Medicare, medicaid and health insurance soar, and bankrupt our nation.

If some tractor dealer insisted that you do a $3000 test on a $1000 tractor you would pack up and leave. But if a doctor orders a $5000 operation on an 86 year old woman with stage 4 lung cancer and an estimated 30 days to live we say "Oh thank you, thank you".

Happened in my family. She still died, and they got paid.

Triple bypass and the wire was part of a tempory pacemaker. When removed it broke off inside and no one checked to see if it all came out, first mistake. Then when i went back and showed them the end pokeing up and saying it was hurting me the doctor refused to do anything, second mistake. So weeks later i show my local doctor and he gets upset and calls someone he knows up there and i got it removed.Thing is i would be all healed up now if it had just been done then.

EDD in KY: I am proof of these words you wrote:. "I have read that as many as 100,000 people die every year in the USA from medical mistakes. Compare that to 30,000 on the highways.

I walked into the emergency room at 7:40 AM... and got no worth while treatment even tho I went into a comma near noon.. One Doctor finally started work on me about 10 PM.. but my heart stopped.. a short while later they gave the Death Certificate to the Doctor to sign and he said he would in several minutes since he wanted to review what they all did.. With everyone just standing by waiting, my heart started working again, by itself... I give God credit for that. Everyone was surprised. Their very poor handeling of my problem got them over $20,000.. I am looking foward to Heaven where no medical personal are required.. ag
(Ps: all info was pieced together in the next few days before being released)
Larry, Curley and Moe would have been proud of their handeling of my near death event. I was never able to fully recover but the hospital had plenty of "proof" that they did all of the right things in a proper way. They're pertty quick to know what is needed to cover themselves.. I was too weak to care..

You know, you could be a little more gracious to the people that SAVED YOUR LIFE.

You act like the CUT the wire, and cackled in sadistic glee when they refused to remove it.

No, rather than cutting you open again, and stressing your system further, and exposing you to further risk of infection, they told you to wait and see because they usually poke their way out on their own.

Just because your local GP doctor got upset doesn't make him right. He's not a heart surgeon, and there's a lot he hasn't seen and doesn't know.

At best it was an accident, and apparently a fairly common one. Maybe they should make those wires a little better? How about you sue the manufacturer of the wires?
