Pasture Fertilizer

I want to apply some 20-10-15 fertilizer to some pasture and would like to know how long the cattle should be kept off. thanks

I KNOOOOOOOWWWW they say you are sposed to keep the critters off till the pellets have "melted". But it never seems to work out around this outfit. I'll betcha I've spread granular fertilizer on pasture with cattle on it 20 or more times.
Never had a problem.
Not to say that it wouldn't or couldn't happen, but I've never had an issue.
Proceed at your own risk....

I actually have had the same experience. Never took the cows off. I figure the fertilizer goes into the soil and grass anyways, but I'm sure someone else will see it differently.

I had the cows bust into the barn once and eat fertilizer right out of the bag. Didnt' seem to hurt them any. Didn't make them grow any faster either, though...

Neighbor had a bull with a hankerin for some salt get into some urea fertilizer, ate up about a half a bag, and craoked pretty close by. I don't think it would be physically possible for your cows to eat enough spread fertilizer to harm them. Just to be safe, though, I would see to it that they have unfettered access to as much salt, as they want, for a couple days, before you turn them loose on the fertilized pasture.

NITRATE Fertilizer will kill them dead fast. Have you heard of Nitrate poisoning? A drink of Luiquid nitrate does it fast. Had three good ones tske a swig out of a tub of 32-0-0 made it about 300 ft.No experience with dry.
