bought a tractor not sure what year seen a number on the left side of the shifter 6832 DA will this mean anything ?

Thats probably a casting code. A picture will tell us a lot more. The serial number plate is located on the clutch housing if its a letter series tractor or a 100 series, maybe more. Its on the left side if you are sitting on the tractor and should be a rectangular tag and will have the make and serial number.

From what I could find that part number is for a Farmall A, which was made from 1939-1947 and the serial number should be located on the left side of the seat bracket. I think the correct prefix for an A should be FAA, followed by a number. Any 4 digit number followed by DA, DB or such is a casting number and is not year specific. You also may be able to find a casting code on the larger pieces which would read 7*12*P or some other letters and numbers in that pattern. The letter at the end tells the year the part was cast and the numbers are the date.

That is a part # the cast codes are 1*2*0 which would be Jan 2,1945 1at number is the month second number is the day and the third letter is the year

The DA, DB etc would be the revision code of the Part Number listed before it. DA would be the first casting made. When they changed a feature of the part the revision went up a digit say to DB. DC is the third variation, DD fourth etc.
