The discussion below about Bait and Bunch kind of reminds me of. Why here in South Central Illinois (near St. Louis) we all call soda, Coke, Pibb, Mt. Dew, Root Beer, etc but in Nothern Illinois people call it "Pop"..

We call it "pop" here in Nebraska. When our daughter comes home from Washington DC, she calls it "soda".

She grew up here, calling it "pop", but she's been in DC for 12 years.

Blue - "Pop"

Red - "Coke"

Yellow - "Soda"

Here is CO. We (and I mean WE) call it by name. Pepsi, Coke, 7up, etc I guess that is because we have several different kinds on hand. But normally it is known as Pop. What ever happen to sasperilla (Spelling)like in the western movies. Sometimes I order that just for a joke.

Guys, Here in Texas,,,, It doesn't matter what you get a... Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Orange, Big Red, Pepsi, Nu Grape, Nehi! ..........
We are going to town to get a Coke! Want to come?

PS, I guess it is like the big Map below indicates!

In Ireland it is just called 'fizzy drink' we do however prefer the 'dizzy soup', even though too much of it seems to leave you feeling groggy next morning!
LOL....Sam

In Ontario it's "pop". Unless of course one roams into the northern and remote areas where French still has a foothold. The Amish and Mennonites probably have another name in their Dutch/German dialect?
