posted awhile ago about a good supply of gel batteries (12v 24 AH).... Got a few and have them on fence chargers with real good luck. Gave some to the neighbor kid that works on my stuff. He put 4 in series and taped them together with duct tape (he's a little necky too) and has them in 3 tractors and is tickled to death..... He was using one battery and swapping between them.... His dad set up a small solar panel and is using some to light (with LED's a little workshop that he was just running an extension cord to.....
When carrying them, one was cracked and had a little jelly on it...
In case anyone is wondering... we can save mythbusters the trouble.... That gel likes nice shirts and jeans just as well as the liquid acid out of a normal battery

The neighbor kid is running 12V equipment with a 48V battery pack?

Good catch.... Meant parallel but just forgot the word  He took 4 24AH batteries and made a 96(??) AH battery is what I meant....

Not that it's a good idea to overcharge ANY battery, but you especially do NOT want to overcharge a gel battery. They pop like a stick of dynamite after a few minutes with a run-away voltage regulator.
