Voltage Regulator wiring on 1953 Cub

I have what I believe is the original Del Romy VR on my '53 cub. I have a new wiring harness. My VR has 3 contacts. BATT, F, and Gen.. I hooked the 1/0 GA wire from Ammeter to BATT lug on the VR..I placed 1/0 Ga. wire from GEN lug on VR to "A" contact on generator..I am left with another 1/0 ga. wire from my wiring harness..Does it go on the F term on the VR or the F term on the generator? According to my wiring diagram there should be a 14 ga wire in the harness that goes from the field resistor on the light switch to the "f" term on the Generator. It shows the "f" term on the VR left vacant. do I use the 1/0 ga. wire in place of the 14 ga shown on the diagrame or run a new wire..I thought I remembered that I removed a wire from the "F" term on the VR during disassembly but I may be mistaken....I think the 1/0 ga. wire instead of the 14 ga wire in the harness just confused me..Maybe a harness for a newer type of VR?
 
Three Terminal (BAT F Gen) VR Wiring:

BAT to load (NOT battery/starter) side of
ammeter

F (Field) to gennys Field (FLD or F) post

GEN to Gennys ARM post

NOTE if before you had a two wire (Bat & Gen) Cutout Relay and used a LHBD Light Switch for Low or High charge control, the Genny FLD wired up to the Light Switch resistor

HOWEVER if you convert to a 3 terminal (BAT FLD GEN) Voltage Regulator theres no longer any wire from the gennys FLD post up to the light switch, it wires instead to FLD on the VR.

YOU DO NOT WIRE THE GENNYS FLD TO THE LIGHT SWITCH ANY LONGER BUT ONLYYYYYY TO FLD ON THE VR

Original cub regulators had 4 terminals. Bat, Field. Gen, and Load) As I recall, the bat was on the bottom. The cutouts had 3 terms, Batt gen and F. Reason for the F was the same unit was used on power units and it provided the Field connection to a fixed resister. To verify what you have take the top off. cutout only has one coil. regulator will have 2 or 3 depending on vintage.
