A friend of mine took a picture of this car in his neighbor's pasture and put it on his Facebook. I was just wondering what it was? I also just like the picture.

i'd like to know too...got a cowling with windshield outer frame and suicide doors that looks very similar...does that car have a fresh air vent on top of cowling?

4 suicide doors, wood spoke wheels, probably not the big 5, but Essex, Willys-Knight, Hudson etc. The radiator and hubcaps will tell for certain.

I'm guessing it's a Willys Knight.

Though not possible to definitively determine from the photo, the engine looks to be a Willys sleeve valve.

I can't believe anybody would let a car like that set out and rust away. no telling what it's worth now, but can you imagine what it was like 30 years ago.

Looks like it may have had a canvas top, no idea.

That cacti may produce fruit, like figs but don't touch them with the bare hands, fine spikes. good eating I hear.

Looks like a 29 Cadillac Phaeton hard top.Maybe a Packard??Except the Packard doesn't show the add on trunk space, had running board tool boxes.

I have read all the reply"s. It"s neat looking
thing, but where I come frome from we"d call
it a Old A Rusty Old Car...

...and it looks like the spare was on the trunk. Same way a pierce arrow is, but I think most of the pierce arrows had lights built into the fenders.

ummm I'm thinking a Hudson or Essex.

That seems to fit the double suicide doors and not "kissing" doors. Also matches some of the models with that extra cab in the back and spare on the back.

Sure looks like the 1928 Essex Greater Super Six...according to my googling skills.

We have a big cacti plant at the foot of our drive. It produces a lot of what we call cactis apples. When the are ready to pick we need to watch them. They are a favorate fruit of the mexicans. They will come in and pick the plants clean. They even eat the young leaves. During a dry spell if the leaves are burned to remove the stickers, they make cow feed. Stan

I hang out on the Hudson board, and will submit the pic to them for identification. If its a Hudson or Essex, they'll know!

Don't think it's a '31 LaSalle. Both front and rear doors on the first picture are suicide doors but not in the one you posted as a '31 LaSalle. Also look at how the front fenders curve downward more on the one than the other.

I say it's a Hudson or Essex. There should be a
name in the center top of the radiator housing,
and
a serial number tag on the passenger side firewall
in the engine compartment. The hubcaps may have
the name on them and they might not, my Essex
hubcaps are blank. The headlites on it are just
like mine and my spare is mounted on bumper just
like that one. The picture is a 1929 Essex
Challenger The serial number tag is in the picture
just to the left of center. This car has an
electric fuel pump yours probably has a vacuum
pump. The car is in to get a new king pin. You can
see where the name tag is in the center top of the
radiator cowling. Notice the old Manley Jack about
the same age as the 1929 car. It never settles
down no matter how long you leave it.

Here is a 1928 Essex Sedan. Looks pretty close. Maybe a 1929 or 1930.
