Peaches ready in Georgia?????

I was wondering if anyone in Georgia, has any peaches that are ready for picking or when they will be ready? My SIL drives truck and he makes a few trips down that way every once in a while. I definately am getting tired of what passes for fruit in this area(Wisc) as they are picked green, and gassed all the way up here, you can really tell the difference, from gassed peaches, to fully ripened Georgian peaches. The ones in the can work, but nothing like biting into a peach and having juice run down your chin. Our peaches, you bite into them and lose 4 teeth, and your mouth dries up,you can't even prime yourself to spit.LOL
Regards, LOU

Yum, i hear ya. I live right next to a orchard. Me likes peaches and pears!

Had a SMALL (17 acres) commercial orchard in West Tennessee way back when; my experience was that the early varieties weren't worth the effort. They were small, cling and essentially flavorless; we finally pushed up the first 2 varieties (Dixired and Earlired, as I recall) and waited for some decent peaches to ripen.

(quoted from post at 04:04:17 04/15/12) They aren"t ready yet. They do have the little ones on them. We need rain though
I live in the Upstate of SC and have a few trees. They were loaded with little peaches until we got one of the hardest hail storms I ever seen. My trees have a few fruit left on them. The really good peaches don't come in until Mid summer. This area of SC used to produce more peaches than Ga. or Calif. but a lot of the orchards have been turned into housing developments.
