Somebody shot the windows out of my old Chevy dump truck some time in the last couple days I pulled it around just the other day to see if the motor was stuck. This is the second time I've people vandalize my stuff in my equipment yard what are some good cheap cameras or other ideas ?
Thanks shaun

I has the same problem, someone got in & stole 4 batteries out of 3 vehicles. Then a couple weeks later somebody got into our dumptrucks gastank & stole some gas.I bought some motion sensor alarms that flash a light when someone comes within 20 feet of them.I go 2 & put one by the gate & one on the side where they might walk theough.I check them every once in a while & the first couple of times it made me jump. They are kinda loud & should scare the $%it out of a theif.I'll find out this summer as I've noticed they don't work here when it's cold out.

Please give us more information; such as...

1) Electricity near, Poles, or on buildings?
2) Are buildings, poles near for mounting? Grain bins; etc.
3) How many cameras do You think You need?

I cant really help; but other people might want this information to start with!

Dang junk batteries are worth quite a bit they were paying 13 bucks a head this last summer at the junk yard. Couple years ago somebody stole a battery of a car I had and they cut the leads to the battery and took them to.

I have grain bins to mount things to . I really don't want to run electric power if there are other options for power the shape of my yard is kinda weird so I'm not sure where to put things ill put a picture up tomorrow.

If you just want to attempt to keep folks on edge, maybe some LED lights that you can either put on a motion sensor or timer and hook to a vehicle battery... Maybe run 440 volts to a couple pieces of equipment... That'll teach em......

Sure glad all I have to worry about is folks stealing poop

I would install land mines. But it is kinda messy and the law frowns on it.

Wild game cameras would help. Battery powered and take some good pictures.

Just put up a sign that says SMILE, YOUR PICTURE HAS JUST BEEN TAKEN. The will look for the camera and never find it.

You prolly mean that as a joke but can actually be more effective that the real thing.... I was having trouble with someone raising my pasture fences up so deer could go thru without getting shocked, told a local busybody that I ordered the cameras and was installing them ASAP. Never had another problem.....

Put up two game cameras.

One where it needs to be, and another hidden to take a photo of whoever steals the first one.

you can also try these. they are simulated security camera. some move, some have flashing led lights. and they are pretty inexpensive. stick a fake antennae on em and it looks like they are hooked up to the internet!!
poke here

Thanks for the replies guys I'm so dam mad right now. I see northern tool has some battery operated camera I might try anybody else used them? I had no idea they used batteries for making Meth that explains alot.

Make a tripwire early warning system using a mouse/rat trap, nail, and BLANK shotgun shell!

Take a common mousetrap and drill a hole directly below the hammer (the part that kills the rodent)

Glue your blank shotgun shell onto the back of the mousetrap with any waterproof glue. The primer of the shell should be centered on the drilled hole.

Place a small block of wood over the drilled hole. This is to protect the shell from impact in case you mess up and trip the trap. Carefully attach the tripwire to the cheese tray. Once the wire is stable, remove the block of wood.

Gently slide a flathead nail or tack into the drilled hole. The nail should fit snug, but not too tight. DO NOT FORCE THE NAIL INTO THE HOLE.

When the tripwire is pulled (tripped) it will pull the cheese tray and the hammer will snap onto the nail, driving it into the primer. Boooom!
