O/T Ready to give up on the Ax Men

Guys in the Pacific Northeast seem to be kids, always fighting. Guys in the South seem to be turning into cartoon characters. But can't stand situation comedys (20 somethings insulting each other and stupid s###x references). PBS looking better.

Really enjoyed that show also. I guess it's like most jobs in that it can get a little monotonous
after a while. Too bad it takes a little purposally generated mayhem to get people to watch. Your right, gets old watching them fight knowing well most owners would have thrown some of those trouble makers their last check by now.
Sure would like to be a foot taller and 50lbs heavier, I'd put Gabe Rygard on his @ss.

Then you watch those segments on Farmweek about the Mississippi logger of the year every year.....you just have to shake your head.

i like the show but some of the people are just stupid like dave on rygard. he just stupid. i liked his bronco that he had before it got smashed by a tree. wonder what happened to it. i dont like how there so many teams now you only get to see 5 min of each section per eposide and sometimes not at all. and another how some people are there half way through the season.

Be it Ax Men; Swamp People; or any other drama show they are all made up drama. You guys just as soon watch Real Housewives of Atlanta as watch that stuff.

I live down the street from one of the guys on ax men and have talked to a few of the guys off swamp people at some boat shows and such. You ought to hear some of the stories they tell.

Nothing but made up drama but heck it sells and they are laughing all the way to the bank.

It all has to be put up just for the show
If the guys were as hard pressed to run up and down those hills like they let on .. A guy wouldn't last 2 hours.. too many safety issues ..OHSA would be on them in a heart beat.
AS far as S&S child walefare would have broken that family up.

I am surprised that the idiot with the big pistol and his recklessness hasn't been taken off the air.after he run the boat into the tree and darn near severed his helpers arm on the side window.

I unsubscriber to cable TV and only missed the sports playoffs. Broadcasters might look into airing better programs when their viewers quit watching their poorer programs.

Some PBS stuff appeals to me-local news, analysis, documentaries....even tho the slant is abundant. But History Channel ice road, swampers, ax fairies, pickers,....all drama queens! Only a moron would be like them! Remember test patterns from the 60s? More appealing! And at midnite, the station went off the air and you could salute the flag and get some goosebumps (where the heck did that term come from?).;....then hit the sack!

Watched Pawn Stars yesterday, Chumlee knocked a vase in a box over clowing around in theback room. However, Rick said he had the vase for years, finally found a buyer & when he looked for the vase, it was all broken in the box. How could a several year old inventory be sitting out front & center on a push cart all by itself for Chumlee to knock over?

Pretty obviously set up fiction.

Still better stuff than most on TV, but yea it all gets to be made up stuff, more/bigger than the last season...

Whaterver happened to Swamp Loggers? That show with Bobby and his crew in NC? Little to know drama, great show!

same way over here... Most of these type shows start out interesting then get over dramatized with the thought of keeping people hooked to see what happens next. By the time we get stuff like that pumped in to out US programming here it is already shot..... Mythbusters started out really interesting and is just a rag now. And that chopper show (whatever it's called)....

Used to get ice road truckers on german TV, but the in thing now is these truck drivers (2 men and a woman) driving in the mountains on roads barely wider than thier trucks. Pretty interesting but going downhill every week. Can't remember what it's called.

Haven't watched TV for more than 5 minutes at a time in years.

Wife is hooked on Lifetime tearjerkers and those true detective things, or I'd tell DirecTV where to stick their programming.

I keep telling myself it's worth $80 a month to keep Momma happy cuz if Momma ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy.

Starting to wear pretty thin tho...

The one I really hate is Black Gold. Bunch of overacting idiots. They wouldn't make a day on a real drilling rig. I know quite a few rig crews. They watch it for laughs.

Another bunch of idiots. Was whale wars.Boat load of nuts led by a so called captain.Who said he never gave orders on his ship. Got shot one time by a magic bullet. Only his badge stop the bullet. No hole in his jacket where the bullet came through.

Then they had the idiot. That sank there fast attack boat. Set fire to the ship with a cutting torch. The best was while in port. The crew of the BOB Barker. Was told to not let the Japanese trawler across the harbor know were here. Black Ship with Bob Barker painted in white on the hull. Flying the Sea Shepered flag. I think the Japanese had an idea that they were there.

(quoted from post at 07:01:33 04/11/12) Agree altogether. Bobby Goodson's crew seemed to be more real.

Agreed. Bobby seemed to be a real nice guy as well. They had issues but all in all, the other loggers couldn't hold a candle to any of Bobby's guys. Real professionals. I enjoyed that show. But as everyone said, these shows were neat for about 2 episodes. I liked Ax Men originally because it showed how hillside logging was done, interesting equipment, etc. As far as the Southern Swamp loggers, what's so interesting about mental midgets jumping in water and hooking a chain to a log?

I don't pay for tv but had seen bits a pieces of the show about the gold miners. Got to watch it a few months ago while at the in-laws. Gave up on it along with any of the other shows like it when a 17 year old who had grown up around big equipment ran a loader out of fuel, couldn't get it started, and freaked out thinking he had ruined the engine. If he had not figured out how to get equipment started before daddy shows up by age 17 he didn't grow up around it.

One of the very few good things about the new digital tv is that Ky's PBS network has 3 channels rather than one. There is always something good on one of them.

I have to laugh at some of the replys here.
People just don't seem to understand they don't HAVE to sit like bumps on a log all night and watch the stupid TV.
I say Kill your television.
You and your family will be smarter, happier and more blessed without that evil thing!

Have a 13 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. We have an antenna on the roof, and I can't remember the last time the TV was on other than to watch a video or an NFL game. The kids do watch too many videos (DVDs, I guess), and the 7 year old occasionally watches cartoons on PBS on Saturday morning, but very little broadcast.

I used to watch the news and the state of the union address and/or political debates. Haven't really missed them lately either.

(quoted from post at 23:52:10 04/10/12) Whaterver happened to Swamp Loggers? That show with Bobby and his crew in NC? Little to know drama, great show!

Canceled.

People don't want to watch "drop the tree, drag the log, load the truck, lather, rinse, repeat" year after year after year. It's BORING.

Swamp Loggers was intriguing to watch at the beginning because it was supposedly about a struggling logging company trying to make it in a down economy. HOWEVER, after a few episodes you started to get the feeling that all of their crying poverty was just for show... Ever get a look at the trucks they drive, or the houses the Goodsons live in?

I've never watched the show(s).
If I did from the sounds of it I'd have the volume off. More interested in the equipment, operations and technique than personalities.

Our tv broke in January. Haven't replaced it and I don't miss it much. used to enjoy NCIS & NCIS LA but you know what? I'm still alive without them.

I've been an "Axman" or member of the order of the ax since 1989, wear a little gold ax on a chain around my neck. All it signifies is I was stupid enough to let the Air Force send me to Axros Air Base and I came back alive. The stuff going on at Araxos was probably about as interesting as the TV show, except of course when you had time to go to the beach and watch the German girls frolic nude on the beach. What was the AX like? No TV, no Radio, newspapers came a day or two or three late unless the Greek post office was on strike, then we didn't get newspapers or mail. I always threatened to stick the entire BX in one of our Ford Econolines so it'd be mobile, that is assuming we could get one of the Econolines to run. You'd sit in the command post for 48 or 72 hours a week so we could direct the Greeks to launch their alert aircraft, the ones sitting in the hanger next to the command post, the ones that didn't have any engines in them. We were protected by Greek conscripts earning 1000 Drachma a month (6 bucks American) toting M-1s with no bullets. Why were we stopping Russia from taking over the place? Had they gotten it it would of bankrupted them decades before they finally went bust (the Russians and Greeks). History? all those Greek ruins you see on TV, those aren't ruins, that's stuff the Greek contractors never got around to finishing. But I guess I was successful, the flag went up the pole 365 times during the year I was there so mission accomplished one won for America.

Ice road Truckers... BS
Axe men .... BS
Crocagator hunter....BS
CrabMen ... BS
Havestors Program..BS

not matter which one for two minutes &
it's ALL BS

Might as well watch Sponge Bob,,,,,,,

The (reality) shows are the ones I can't stomach!Lets see that crew start and profitably operate a dairy farm if they want a real challenge.

Saw a program once I think called monster garage... The project of the one I saw was converting a delivery van (maybe an old milk truck?) into a mobile milk parlor. Far fetched, but they were creative.... When finished, the cows walked up a ramp, was cleaned and milked (one at a time). Milk was processed completely and a guy was outside at a tap on the side of the van passing out glasses of cold milk to kids.....

I started out liking the shows but after a bunch of whiners on here started throwing rocks at them and talking about staging things for effect, I started paying attention and sure nuf it gets more obvious every show.

What I can't believe is that Alaska and other environmentally sensitive areas allow the clear cutting and water pollution and erosion creation that goes on with these types of activities. The gold mining operations, both on land and in the Bay of Alaska are prime examples of a big mess.

My 2c.

I'm curious how many of you tv haters(not a put down) feel just as bad about spending time at the computer?
I have a problem with surfing too much, but at the same time I get so much info and friendship out of it that I'm quite torn on it's benefit.
