gone farming auction Wi. April 14

It's the big Mecum tractor auction. Mecum DOT com.

Mecum usually sells those fancy collector cars, hot rods, muscle cars, etc.. Last year they had their first fancy tractor auction.

Frankly I doubt if there will be anything at that auction that people on a normal salary can touch.

I was at last year"s....there was large Ford collection....

A lot of the tractors with NR(no reserve)went at very reasonable price.....less than C.L. and Fleabay.

EX: Completely restored Oliver 550 for under $3500...

actually, this is their 4th tractor auction, the first was fall '10, they had a spring and a fall one last year. Actually, a lot of the prices were on the bargain side the first two, not as sure on the fall one last year. Decent crowds and they put on a good show, but the reserves and fees don't get the bidding fired up. The first two auctions a bunch went to dealers and there were a few locals driving one home after the sale on the road. A lot of the actual buying happens after the bidding ends on the reserve ones.

So far, they have mostly had later models with feature collections, so this one with some nicer old steel wheelers might attract a little more notice. I hit the previous three, so I'll probably run up to this one and check it out. Already saw the Waterloo Boy at Gathering of the Green but theres a few others I'd like to check out.

//oh, and all their prices are on the website afterwards
