Got home from Chicago visit last night. 1994 GMC 2WRD with overdrive averaged 18.8 mpg. Made it there and back with gas left over. From fill-up to fill-up went 523 miles on 28.8 gallons.

Not a bad trip at all at that kind of mileage. I took a trip with my 96' Ford F-150 4x4 with a straight six out to Lewistown, MT a month ago and stretched a couple tanks out to 21 MPG, but I averaged just a tick over 19 MPG for the trip. Feels good to know now that gas is $4 a gallon!
 
Have a 1997 4x4 GMC with a 5.7 vortec V8 and overdrive. Made a trip from Milton PA. to Northwest Indiana( all tollway) pulling trailer and truck loaded and used 32 gallon in 601 miles. This is my first GMC pickup and been happy with it.
 
This is off this topic, but I spent 14 1/2 years in the petroleum industry, gas should NOT be over $2.00 per gallon today. Every time we fill up, we are being stolen from. All you tree huggers who disagree do not bother to respond here, I KNOW what I am talking about.

ccording to sales stats, people aren't buying enough overpriced/impractical electric cars & only about 3 in 5 replace their first hybrid with another, SO.............the government has to force this & one way the feds think will work is to get those gas/diesel prices as high as possible by any and every means of attack. "If you won't do what dimerals tell you to do, force you to do it!"
 
I got the same milage from a 351 V8 on a 250 mile test.Friends Ranger gets 22 mpg cramped tiny truck.I dont use the truck a lot but it can haul 700bf of lumber with ease.
