Another ship question: Has anyone shipped a rim, bare?

Has anyone experience shipping a bare rear tractor rim? I need to ship one 12x28 spin out rim, do they just tag them and give them to UPS? Or ? I wound up putting the drawbar in a heavy cardboard tube and it made it ok, thanks again, Paul

I would put it in a box to save the paint, if it has any on it. I pick up cardboard boxes that people have put out for the trash man, as well as at the recycling area at the dump. It is a bit of a nuisance in some ways to have a bunch of boxes around, but with lots of tape and a utility knife you can make anything you'll need. We have a local chain dollar store where I can get rolls of yellow packing tape that says ChooseBooks.com for $3/1.00, so sometimes on a large and heavy package I will use a whole roll of tape to make sure it is secure.

A rim I would think you could just put a sticky label on the inside edge and ship. Protect the label well!

Yes I had a company ship a rim for a Farmall Super C to me from MN to OK. UPS driver pulled up in my driveway and went to get it out, he said what the H--l is that? I told him and we both had a good laugh. I was from a salvage yard, rusty no paint. It just had the tag attached, just the bare rim. Had no problems other than the driver's confusion. :D

It is rusty but solid. I think I may can go online and get a prepaid ship tag to tape good and my driver won't care. Thanks

I bought one over the Internet and had it delivered with no problems.
Come to find out the local tire store has rims for the same price.

Yes but I would devise away so it would not roll when in the up-right position..
If it falls off their conveyor line it can get bent... I have rejected quite a few my suppliers will not ship rims to me anymore unless I order enuff to ship motor freight...
