Metal detector nuts??

Along with my greasegun investment, I ordered a metal detector. Reason for it is that I am really super duper forgetful. Unhooked a water tank last week and laid the drop pin (fancy one with a spring handle/dog to lock it in place) on the back of the tractor. Hooked up a harrow and started levelling. Ground is nice and smooth and my pin is laying somewhere in the midst..... The replacement pin to fit "that hitch" is just over a hundred bucks if I decide I want one. Metal detector was about the same price. Figure it'll pay for itself when I find the pin and the last 10 years of lost stuff and any goodies will just be gravy.... We'll see......

Weld a chain to the pin and then weld/bolt that to
the tank/implement,you will never loose that pin
again!LOL(BTDT)

i have a magnetic "broom" that i got from the farm store. has a magnet about a foot wide or so with 2 little wheels on it. roll it around on the ground and it picks up all kinds of little metal doo-dads!!! great for picking up roofing nails after a tear off.

I've seen very similar gizmos, but a bit larger, that can hang from chains attached to the 3 point on a tractor and even from the rear bumper of a truck.

Hindsight...... it'll be done tho because that pin stays on the tractor anyway.

One of the tools in my tool box is a cheap electronic stud finder. They are a small metal detector and are a great help in finding that little screw or part I just dropped into grass or straw.
