We got the same cactus at our place in central Ohio. My wife has grown to hate it to. I like'em. Prettiest yellow flower once a year. Hard to get rid of though. Dig them up throw 'em in the woods and they grow there!

i got a dumazz neighbor that just kept mowing prickly pears down..now his whole place if full of them...everywhere a piece lands you will have a new plant.
i got a bunch in 1 corner of the ranch for emergencies like drought...burn the needles off and cows eat em like candy.

they are tough! I do like the yellow flowers on them, and I have not seen many of them around here
